Sina learned to grill traditional Persian kabob from his dad and make beautiful basmati rice from his mom. Throughout his childhood, he learned how important food is in the Persian culture. The flavors are unique and exquisite, but the true joy comes from working together to create them. He met his wife, Lindsey, at Cal Poly as they pursued degrees in engineering back in 2008. During their college years, Sina would host weekly barbecues, creating a place for his friends and neighbors to gather.
While many Cal Poly students moved away after graduation, Sina and Lindsey made it a priority to make their home on the Central Coast. After years of seeing how much people enjoyed the experience of his barbecue, Sina finally launched Shekamoo Grill in 2020. With Lindsey’s help, they’ve been able to hone their craft, preparing traditional Persian kabob while also creating new dishes with a modern twist.
The Farsi word “Shekamoo” roughly translates to “foodie.” Food connects us all and we hope to share the joy it brings us with our community. That is why we started Shekamoo Grill—to bring together friends, families, and the community we love. The food we prepare offers more than a tasty bite—it’s an experience that draws people in with the flame-grilled Persian kabob being prepared fresh onsite.
